In August of 2021, cell phone carrier T-Mobile announced a significant data breach affecting over 13 million current customers and over 40 million former and prospective customers.

While the data breach did not result in the loss of all data, it did include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Date of Birth
  • SSN
  • Drivers License/ID Information
  • Account PIN
  • IMEI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) – The code used by the carrier to identify the SIM on the mobile network.
  • IMSI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) – The international “Serial number” for your device used to identify it on the network.

In response to the breach, T-Mobile is offering credit monitoring for two years for the impacted customers. Complete information can be found here.
